BadBlue brings new package to web-enable information among 300 million users of Excel ®
Automated spreadsheet solution is affordable and scalable and retains the power of legacy Excel spreadsheets
Atlanta, GA - – June 6, 2004 - BadBlue Inc., www.BadBlue.com, provider of collaboration tools, announces the release of BadBlue Excel® Collaboration Tools for its Enterprise Edition product. The offering eliminates the delays, costs and inefficiencies related to manual exchange of Excel® spreadsheets. Whether used in accounting or law, sales force automation, budgeting, or manufacturing, the spreadsheet collaboration tools instantly web-enable legacy data previously locked in stand-alone spreadsheets.
In its basic configuration, the product can connect remote Excel® users to a single spreadsheet via the Internet. Users can exist within the framework of a team, a department or the extended enterprise. By web-enabling spreadsheets, browser-based users can view or modify select areas of legacy workbooks using only browsers. Internet Explorer and Windows are not required of remote users of the solution, which provides true thin-client access to Excel® data. The package eliminates the expenditures and delays related to emailing and merging spreadsheet data; avoids the overwhelming risk of data errors associated with manual exchange; and ensures that all parties are using up-to-date information.
Utilizes existing Excel® spreadsheets
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) reports that there are approximately 300 million copies of Excel® installed worldwide. Excel® is used for a very wide range of business processes across industries, companies and departments -- across every business function.
“Millions of business people are connected every workday to the web,” says BadBlue’s President, Brandt Ross. “Despite the fact that Excel® was not designed to work seamlessly in a browser-based world, companies have millions of spreadsheets driving valuable business processes. Now there is a solution to the problem of how to unlock a spreadsheet isolated on a workstation. With BadBlue's spreadsheet collaboration server, companies no longer have to pay expensive consultants or justify huge projects to get the benefit of unlocking their data. Now they can connect those spreadsheets directly to the web and securely share the data with browser-based users who may be anywhere."
Easy to install and simple to use
By making the package easy to deploy, BadBlue has lowered the bar to effective web-enablement of legacy spreadsheets.
“Unlike huge, expensive spreadsheet 'connection' solutions, BadBlue's collaboration tools can be installed by anyone,” says Ross. “Once deployed, businesses will realize that the benefits of unlocking this data far outweighs the minimal costs. Better decision-making results in better business. And that's what BadBlue offers."
Deployment and recognition
It was the simple Excel® collaboration capability found in BadBlue Enterprise Edition that first attracted ISS Ohio. The ISS solution opens up government project data to a team of contractors collaborating on a large-scale project.
Further, Mindstorm Technologies has recently selected BadBlue Enterprise Edition to drive browser-based access to legacy data for their customers.
Availability
BadBlue Enterprise Edition with Excel® Spreadsheet Collaboration is available now, and runs on Microsoft’s Windows Operating System. Pricing is based upon the number of named users who can access the live view of the spreadsheet.
