BadBlue provides support for sharing music, video and
other collections of files. With a built-in search
capability, users visiting your BadBlue server can search for
songs by title, artist or date listed. For more sophisticated
usage, BadBlue even supports full-text search of
Word files,
Excel spreadsheets and other documents.
The following instructions help you get started search-enabling
your web site, quickly and easily.
Which Browser?
You can use any browser with BadBlue.
Important: when managing BadBlue, we strongly recommend the use of Internet
Explorer (IE). Although any browser (Mozilla, Opera, etc.) will work for BadBlue users,
the management pages use some IE-specific features.

Step 1
The Manage tab (highlighted in yellow at right) is used to
manage your BadBlue server. Click the Manage tab.

Step 2
Click the Setup Search link (highlighted). This will let you
choose the music, video or other files you'll share with others.

Step 3
On the Setup Search page, click the Browse button (highlighted).
This lets you select the music -- or other types of -- files that users
can search for.

Step 4
Select any of the files in the folder you want
to share (for example -- "My Documents\My Music" -- as shown at right).
Press the Open button to finish the selection. Even if you want to share
the whole folder, just open one of the files for now.

Step 5
Check the 'Share all files in this folder' checkbox, then press
the 'Share!' button.

Step 6
Note that the new search folder has been added to the list of shared search
areas (at bottom, right).
Press the Search tab to test it.

Step 7
To test the search, enter a phrase that matches one or more files you've
selected in step 4. Press the Go! button. Your search results should
appear. Now users visiting your PC can also search for these files.
